Cracked Clay Staircase by Olle Stjerne
The staircase offers a variety of dramatic narrative interpretation that for me creates a canvas where I can project different textures, materials and stories.
From a dramatic interpretation in Hitchcock’s Vertigo and Psycho, the frightening and dizzying perspective, to our everyday use of an instantly recognizable architectural object, the staircase can be many things.
This time a cardboard maquette was covered in clay which hardened over time and pulled apart the underlying shape. The organic texture lent itself very well to photoscanning and now the object is a digital asset.
