From the exhibition text by Wouter Klein Velderman and Thijs Rhijnsburger:

Argentina Spring!

Kunstplatform De Apotheek temporarily has a new space!

In recent years, the platform has initiated 34 exhibitions in temporary and stimulating locations throughout the city, such as an old pharmacy or a tollhouse. Starting from October 26th, De Apotheek will settle in the center of Amsterdam.

It invites 28 artists to transform a vacant Argentinian restaurant behind Leidseplein into a sizzling South American spring: Argentina Spring!

The sultry interior, dating back to the early 1980s, remains largely intact. This will serve as the scenery for the artworks on display. In selecting and inviting the artists, we looked for works that would either rhythmically submit to the warm climate or fiercely resist the Argentinian scenographic intensity. Small dining tables and wicker chairs will make way for standing, reclining, and hanging sculptures. Most of the exhibited works will need to hold their ground in sultry alcoves, against built-in benches with tiled roofs, beneath rough wooden ceilings, standing before brickwork, and atop a bar made of halved wine barrels.
